Tim Silva (City Council liason to the Chamber)

Tim was elected to the Barstow City Council in November of 2006. He was born on December 21, 1958, at Barstow Community Hospital to the parents of Gregorio C. Silva and Mary Flora Silva. Tim’s father worked for the government’s civil service division for about 40 years after completing his service to our country in the military. Tim’s mother was a homemaker and donated much of her time to Saint Joseph’s Church and School. Tim comes from a large close knit family. He has six brothers and one sister. Tim lived in Barstow for about 20 years prior to moving to the Victor Valley area. He chose to move back to Barstow in February of 2003.
Tim is married to Kim Silva the daughter of Cliff Van Guilder and Ann Marie Hammond. The Silvas have two beautiful children, daughter Taylor Ann who is ten years old and a son Tristen Steven who is four. Tim has a daughter from a prior marriage, Dawnelle, who lives in Victorville and is currently a college student obtaining her teaching credentials.
Growing up in Barstow, Tim graduated from Mount Saint Joseph’s School and Barstow High School. After high school, Tim attended Barstow Community College and later transferred to Victor Valley Community College. While attending college, he acquired the necessary Real Estate and Finance Business courses. Tim obtained his Real Estate License in 1985 and his Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist Certificate earlier in 2006. Tim has been working in the Mortgage Banking Business since 1985 and has worked for companies in Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties.
When Tim returned to Barstow in 2003, he came back with a vision and a plan to be active within the community. He joined local organizations to accomplish this plan. Tim is a Past President of the Barstow Area Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Barstow Rotary Club.
